What We Do

Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT)

GM Risk Group conduct on demand Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) and Field Journalist Safety courses. Our internationally recognised HEAT course is designed for media staff, security personnel and travellers deploying to third world countries or high-risk locations.

 

Subject matter includes selection of fixers, hotels and transport, remote first aid, filming location selection, digital security, navigating checkpoints, threat de-escalation, equipment selection, protective equipment, weapons familiarization, ballistics, navigation and risk assessments – planning and preparation, personal security and risk management.

First Aid - Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC)

GM Risk Group offer specialised First Aid courses conducted by our resident special operations medical staff.

 

Our Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) courses cover remote first aid, CPR, pre-hospital trauma care, patient transport, care under fire and signs, symptoms and treatment of shock

Domestic Journalist Safety

GM Risk Group’s “Domestic Journalist Safety” training course is designed for media staff working in a domestic environment.

This course will enable you to remain safe whilst reporting. Subjects include risk assessments, first aid, riots and demonstrations, threat de-escalation, police and your rights, equipment selection, insurance, cyber security, and communication.

Course Overview

GM Risk Group’s on-demand Emergency Preparedness Course aims to enhance preparedness through a ‘whole community’ approach by providing training, products, and resources to a broad range of stakeholders.

We cover issues such as ‘Armed Offender’, incident response, and workplace violence.

GM Risk Group offers cost effective courses, materials and workshops to better prepare you to deal with an emergency situation and to raise awareness of behaviours that represent pre-incident indicators characteristics of  of armed offenders.

Governance

GM Risk Group’s on-demand Emergency Preparedness Course material and procedures are in line with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)  and Homeland Security’s IS-907 and Australian Government guidelines for an armed offender incidents.

Course Duration & Certification

The course is conducted over one day and is available to Police, Corporate Staff, Teachers, Parents and Students.

Our Emergency Preparedness Course is unique because participants also receive a nationally recognised First Aid qualification with an emphasis on Emergency Trauma Situations.
